PEAK DISTRICT SOUTH YORKSHIRE

LANGSETT RESERVOIR, YORKSHIRE

FEBRUARY 2018 WALK EVERY DAY FOR A WEEK CHALLENGE – DAY 6

I woke up and looked out of the window today and it looked like a very miserable, overcast and rainy day. But as I am doing my Walk Every Day for a Week Challenge this week I pushed myself and we decided to go to Langsett Reservoir for our family walk. We agreed on doing only the short walk. It is not the one around the whole reservoir, but rather the one which is circular and goes along the reservoir as you can see on the map at the end of the post. We have never been before.

| Distance: 2.5 miles | 4 km,  Circular

| Push chair friendly – although some sections were quite muddy, there are some steps on the way too

Langsett Reservoir, which was started in 1889 and completed in 1904, now belongs to Yorkshire Water. It supplies Rotherham and Doncaster, and, though access to the water’s edge is forbidden, the lakes adds to the beauty of the scene.

We went to this spotty cafe called The Bank View Cafe. It is just around the corner from the Langsett Barn car park. The cafe has its own little car park too. We had a nice lunch at a table next to a lit fireplace.
