MAY 2018 WALK EVERY DAY FOR A WEEK CHALLENGE – DAY 1
The tiny hamlet of Mayfield is part of the parish of Fulwood within the borough of the city of Sheffield. It nestles between the hills, in the unspoilt open countryside known as the Mayfield valley to the south-west of the city and bordering the Peak district of Derbyshire.
It is my first day of the May’s Walk Every Day for a Week Challenge. I have a very bad back at the moment so I think I will take it easy this week. Today I went for a short walk with my friend around the Mayfield Valley.
I forgot to record the walk on my app map so I will try to describe it.
We started at the Forge Dam Cafe and followed the path around the duck pond into the woods crossing Wood Cliffe toward Mayfield Valley. Then we went along the Clough Lane, Mark Lane, Mayfield Road, David Lane, School Green Lane and into the Fullwood.
Cow Parsley is one of my favourite spring/summer flowers. Sheffield is covered in them at this time of the year. So beautiful.
I am in love with this area. Its beautiful views and countryside feel; it is hard to believe you are actually in one of the biggest cities in the UK.
Have you tried to go for a walk every day for a week? I think it is harder than it sounds considering the work/life commitments of todays modern world. It doesn’t have to be a long walk, go for a stroll if you don’t have time. Try it, it is good for your body and soul. 😉
