walk every day for a week challengeToday is the first day of my March 2018 Walk Every Day for a Week Challenge. It looks like I couldn’t pick a better week. The weather forecast for this week doesn’t look that great. It supposed to be overcast and rainy pretty much all week. Hopefully that will change as of  tomorrow!

You can have a look at my February 2018 Challenge here.

I had to repeat this quote over and over in my head:

“There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing”.

But in the end it turned out to be quite a pleasant walk. I was awarded with beautiful misty scenery across the park. There was not many people in the park, it felt very solitary and mysterious.

Graves Park

It is a large parkland area in the South of Sheffield, between the districts of Norton, Woodseats and Meadowhead. The park was developed by Alderman J.G.Graves between 1926-1936, to protect the thousand year old woodland from building development. Mr Graves donated the 91.9 hectares park to the city.

The park is a mixture of open and woodland, with several streams flowing through it. There are three small lakes bordered by mature trees. To the northeast of the park is Graves Park Animal Farm, home of many rare breeds of cattle, pigs, chickens and donkeys. Near the Charles Ashmore Road entrance are practice golf course, two bowling greens and several hard tennis courts.

There is a Rose Garden Cafe and a very nice playground in the park as well.

Walking in Graves Park

Nice walk through the woods. It was raining lightly from the beginning of the walk but just when I was about to finish the walk it started raining quite heavily. Lucky me! 🙂

Water running through paths and mud everywhere. I always forget my gaitors at home when I need them the most..

My wet walking boots

Although it looked more like autumn and not spring, here is a proof  that the spring IS on its way! Even the crocuses didn’t want to open today due to the rainy weather.
